Julie Fox Henson – Violin

Julie Fox Henson, violin.  

Ms. Henson was founding first violinist of the Montclaire String Quartet.  During her tenure with the group, the ensemble won prizes at the Coleman, Monterrey and Evian (France) Competitions.  She is currently the Assistant Concertmaster of the Des Moines Symphony, and has been concertmaster of the West Virginia and Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphonies.  Ms. Henson enjoys a successful teaching studio in the Ames/Des Moines area, and has performed for nine years with the Belin String Quartet, which has a summer concert series.  She has been a member of the New Hampshire Music Festival since 1988.  Julie’s husband, Alan, played double bass with the NHMF from 1989 – 1997.  He enjoyed playing week 4 of the 2008 season as an emergency substitute.  Julie and her two boys have loved returning to New Hampshire every summer for the great music and great musicians, the old and dear friends, and the hiking and swimming in the beautiful White Mountains.
