Sandra Flesher-Sheldon – Principal Oboe

holds two degrees from the Eastman School of Music.  Most recently  she was principal oboe laureate and English horn soloist with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.  Throughout her career she has performed in  the principal orchestras of Rochester(NY), Tulsa, Portland (ME), Enid-Phillips, Lubbock, Milwaukee, Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario.  Also, oboe/English hornist of the Toronto Opera, Granite State Opera, the National Ballet of Canada,  and in recitals recorded and aired by the CBC.
She has served on four university faculties in Oklahoma and  performed as  artist-in-residence at L’Ecole des Americains at Fontainbleau, France working with  Director / composer, Nadia Boulanger.  Small ensemble work includes The Milwaukee Woodwind Quintet, the Lorien Woods Quintet,(Hamilton, Ontario),and the Oklahoma University Woodwind Quintet including its  1985 Carnegie Recital Hall performance.  She has performed at the Library of Congress Music Division Coolidge Auditorium under Dr. Frederick Fennell.  For 42 seasons she has played principal oboe at the New Hampshire Music Festival and for the past 5  years served as NHMF Chamber Music Coordinator.  As a composer six of her works have been played or premiered at the Music Festival, one of them commissioned by former Music Director, Thomas Nee.
