Musicians of New Hampshire Music Festival File Unfair Labor Charges
This past summer, New Hampshire Music Festival management announced that they planned to create a “new model” for the summer festival, under which current musicians would have to undergo a rigorous reevaluation process in order to keep their long-held positions. Opposed to the proposal, the musicians’ Orchestra Committee, along with a negotiator, met with management. The committee reluctantly agreed on a policy for the new model, but were shocked to find that the policy was later altered without musician consent.
In mid-November, the musicians filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board. They state that the employer failed to bargain in good faith and took actions in reprisal of the employees’ effort to organize. For more, visit www.nhmfmusicians.org.
